I just found this on the site and thought you may find it interesting... *Quote:* As I've been saying for some time, Joss is incredibly busy writing his three shows, working on a couple other things, including the Buffy animated and the Giles show for BBC, so he hasn't a lot of free time--a point he made hilariously at his panel in San Diego this summer. And yet he's come through yet again for me. I was driving over a bridge in Idaho on my way to a wedding a couple weeks ago, and I got a call from Joss. He wanted to get working on our long-talked-about followup to Tales of the Slayers, and he wanted to jumpstart Fray--which, by the way, was not stalled because of him. Since that phone call, I've received the completed script for Fray #7, and, much to my surprise, his script to a short story for our upcoming Tales of the Vampires book. Tales of the Slayers remains my favorite Buffy book, and I have hopes that Tales of the Vampires will outdo it. I also have hopes that we'll be able to release this one on time, but that's a little way down the road yet. Keep sending in your mail on Scott Lobdell and Fabian Nicieza's run on Buffy--and please don't focus too much on which episodes this story fits between. It's a story. Have fun with it. Monster Island, out in March, sees Christopher Golden team up with Tom Sniegoski for a hardback adventure that teams the Slayer and her ex. Jeff Mariotte goes solo in April for Angel: Sanctuary, whilst May sees Buffy: Blood and Fog from his writing partner Nancy Holder. Other upcoming books include Cursed by Mel Odom (crossover), Chaos Bleeds by James Moore (Buffy) and Fearless by Doranna Durgin (Angel). In addition, a third edition of acclaimed Buffy reference work The Watchers' Guide is expected in December. Sure can't wait to see another Watcher's Guide. The novella is a prequel to the Buffy Xbox game. The story is called "Dawn and Hoopy the Bear." Here's how Dark Horse describes the issue: "Continuing the look into Buffy's life before Sunnydale, we take a detour with Dawn -- a mysterious package is accidently delivered to the younger Summers sister, and the enchanted teddy bear Hoopy wreaks havoc upon the life of the little ten year old. Intended to destroy the Slayer, the gift leads Dawn unwittingly into her first adventure, years before she'd ever be accepted into the Scooby Gang." Lee, longtime cover artist on the Buffy series, writes, draws, colors, letters, and provides both photo and art covers for the issue. Buffy the Vampire Slayer #55 will arrive in stores on March 26.

One of my favorites was "Paleo", but I like dinasours. They hinted that it was a guy thing, to like dinasours. It was heavy Oz. I haven't read one that was focused mostly on Willow and Tara yet. I just ordered a bunch more books with my season 3 DVD. I didn't like "Little Maids", for some reason. I can't say why. "The Gatekeeper Trilogy" was good, and I liked "Lost Slayer." The only one I really hated was "Night Of The Living Reruns," because none of the characters were anything like the show. Granted it was an early book, but they made a big thing about Giles drinking coffee, because he was in those coffee commercials before. Hope that helps some. By the way, my favorite are the ones written by me! (I'm kind of joking, but I think they are pretty good!!)

Compared to whitenight922's experience, I do not know if I am really qualified to make any comments, since my experience is a bit more limited. I read Wisdom of War by Christopher Golden, and thought it was good, sea dwelling demons fight, their ancient enemy an evil sea demigod on the beaches of Sunnydale. So that one I liked. I am currently reading The Book of Fours by Yvonne Navarro, I am liking it, too. An ancient enemy to the Slayers seeks to vent its malacious intent using Sunnydale as its battlefield. WoW is set in season 5, before Joyce dies or is even sick, and BoF is set in Season 3, before Consequences and after Faith, Hope and Trick. Both novels have Faith in them. So far I am liking the ones I have read. A possible word of warning, do not know this from my experience, but I have heard that many of the character based series (for example, Giles Chronicles, etc) are novelizations of series episodes. So, if one is looking for original stories, situations and 'adventures' those books usually will not provide them. Exception, Pretty Maids all in a Row (Dru and Spike) And in my opinion if one had to categorize all these IMO it would probably be YA (Young Adult). Hope this helps anyone. The General layout of this book is similar to the Watcher's Guides having cast bios, pictures and episode guides. However this book's episode guides covers all BtVS including the finale of Season six, and AtS including the finale of Season three. This book has a section covering the Bronze Posting parties held in the Los Angeles Area around mid season from 1998 - 2002. This book makes considerable reference to the on-line community, Plan C was not mentioned, but other sites were missed, too. There is a short section listing some of the major Buffyverse websites (for example, www.cityofangel.com, www.network23.com/hub/ahas, www.smgfan.com) and descriptions. There is a whole section on Little Willow, a major presence of the on-line Buffy community, btw if you did not know Little Willow created one of the first Amber websites ever the Essence of Amber and she created the WPWP clique. The book is loaded with pics, all through the text section and the center section of full color one are IMO better quality than the Watcher's Guides, done on a semi-gloss stock, IMO class. Is this book a replacement for the Watcher's Guides, no they are the official documents of record of the Buffyverse. But is this one you want in your collection, IMO yes. It is discounted at Amazon, I have no connection, and it is free shipping. Okay, I just had to add that I know Nikki Stafford. I used to talk to her quite reguarly but not so much lately, or really at all. But I did have the pleasure of meeting her (as she is from Toronto, or used to live here or something like that) She's a great person and if this book is anything like the Xena book she did it'll be fantastic. In my opinion the Xena book she had done was 100 times better than any of the official stuff. So I'll definately be buying her book, and I'm willing to put money on the fact that I'll likely find it better than any of the official books done. Kim Go Leafs Go!

I'm a fan of the Offical Watchers Guides so if this better then I'm so there. I'd like to throw out a recommendation for the Buffy/Angel Unseen trilogy by Nancy Holder and Jeff Mariotte. It's multi-plot story involving; missing teens, alternate dimenions, portals leaking out evil beasties, blobby shadow demons, rival gang warfare, and more. It has the Buffy crew hooking up with the Angel staff and then spliting up to handle all the crisis going on in both locals. Apperences by both Faith and Tara. In fact Tara has some good moments, especially a tag team fight scene with Riley and cardboard soldier has a good internal thought monologue regarding Tara.
