Expanding a bit on Zon's report . . .

Least favorite part - Being directed to up the bitch factor in some scenes.

Iyari said she felt so bad about having to call Chloe a maggot that after every take, she had to run over and give Lalaine a hug.

SHe also mentioned filming a Drew Carey episode for the upcoming season (possibly the first ep)

This was hysterical -- Iyari basically spoiled the whole episode for us, and kept stopping herself after divulging every plot point to exclaim something to the effect of "Oh my god, I shouldn't be telling you this, should I?" (Kinda reminds me of Hagrid in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, really.) She also said it was different doing a sitcom, and that it was kind of disappointing that they don't film in front of a studio audience because she's always wanted to do that.

Otherwise, she's trying to get work like everyone else

Funny thing is, Hudson Leick brought up that exact same statistic about 2% or 8% of SAG members actually working later on in the evening. (She was absolutely wonderful, by the way . . .I'd never seen her in a con performance before, and watching her do her impersonations of the various zodiac sign personalities was an absolute delight.)

Other topics touched on in the Q&A are that yes the tongue piercing is real (about 6 years old),

Hee! I dared my friend Wolf to ask her about the piercing. She also said that for some weird reason, the piercing doesn't seem to heal when she takes the bar out. She thinks she'll be a really interesting grandmother, because she can put on displays for her grandkids of poking pins and things in and out of the hole. (My friend Mar added, "Or a spaghetti string . . .")

She said that the only scene that made it to air that wasn't her but her stunt double was being lifted and choked by the Bringer . . . and that she was kind of disappointed 'cause she wanted to go up in the harness.

She's a plucky thing who has a strong belief in herself when others (including her family and boyfriend years ago) warned her she would fail.

THAT was a really cool thing to hear her talk about. Someone asked her if there was any actor in particular who inspires her, and she said no, there really aren't any specific actors who inspire her; she inspires herself to keep going, and all the people she meets who do amazing things inspire her.


Some other things:

Someone asked her, when she said that she loves action roles and would love to do movies, if she'd do a Xena movie were she asked. When she said that yes, she'd absolutely love to, everybody cheered.

When asked if Aly is a good kisser, she got awfully enthusiastic, saying that yeah, Aly was a great kisser. "She has the sweetest . . . um . . . lips . . . and um . . . you really don't want me to go there!"

As usual, I was an absolute idiot when speaking to her. Having paid for my photo op ticket with her the day before (which I was dorkily kissing in the bar), I got in line for that as my knees rapidly lost their ability to function. The two girls in front of me wanted to be in the picture together, and the staff rearranged the chairs so that there was a slightly higher one in the middle. Iyari cheerfully plunked herself down in the one on the end, and when one of the staff guys looked at her, she went, "What?" He pointed out that she was supposed to sit in the one in the middle, and she replied, "Yeah, well, what if I wanted her to sit in my lap?"

Of course, when it got to be my turn, I (in my "Got potential?" shirt, which is how Zon recognized me) mumbled some stupid half-assed attempts at introducing myself and saying I'd met her in Santa Barbara a few months ago, and went, "Anyway!" So then, picture, and as I was walking out feeling like an insane yet cheerful idiot, I heard her reading the back of my shirt out loud: "Mmmmmmmm. Kennedy."

. . . I managed to stagger back to the lobby and collapse on the floor in front of friends.



(Apparently, someone overheard her saying something to the effect of "Oh my god! There's someone walking around with my name on their shirt!")

So yeah . . . all in all, a great time. Iyari is very sweet and very personable, and a lot of fun on stage. I should be getting a new scanner soon, and when I do, and my photo arrives, I'll have that up for y'all to look at, and mock my dorkiness.
