OK, folks I subscribe to a newsletter (e-mail type) from the SciFi Guys www.scifiguys.com/index.jsp Their newsletter has news about media happenings in science fiction and fantasy along with criticism and commentary. And anyway, in a recent newsletter the writers were commenting about how it was ironic we would look back on last years TV season nostalgically, compared to this season. Since last season Farscape was still on, Buffy and Angel were on, Firefly was starting up, Alias was still here, there was still some glimmer of hope that Witchblade might return, Taken and the Childern of Dune were being planned. And now Buffy and Farscape are gone, Battlestar Galatica (and I have real mixed thoughts about that) is coming as is Wizard of Earthsea, and Enterprise is still floundering. The Big three networks in the States (CBS, NBC, ABC) are awash in "Reality TV"
and the netlets Fox, WB and UPN are very much still trying to find their niches, and Cable, unless you get Tech TV, Fx, and/or premium movies are getting less appealing. And SciFi, please do not even go there, all one really needs to say is Scare Tactics with Shannen Doherty (IMO) Shannen is scary enough without any of their elaborate setups.
