Episode 2 "Putting Out Fires"
2 Lives Lost. 1 Life Saved. Such is the trials and tribulations of Tru Davies.
The poor girl, first lost her mother, then her boyfriend was a lying, cheating jerk, then she found her soul mate and fell in love, only to lose him to a fire. Loss seems to play a significant role in Tru's life. But its a small price to pay for the lives she is able to save. So you should not pity her. This is after all, her calling. And she can't save everyone.
Now a lot of ppl are probably thinking, how can she meet her soul mate and fall in love in one day? It can happen. Well for the romanticists out there, its believable
And even when Tru managed with all her heroic efforts to prevent the events which had originally caused Nick's death, he ran back into the burning building to save Samantha. Therefore sacrificing his life for hers. So fate led Tru to Nick, fate is the reason they fell in love, and fate, in the end, is why he died. He was meant to die. A hero nonetheless. His plea for help was NOT for himself, but for the life of the small child. So Tru did save someone, but not without great loss.
Eliza played this episode with great elegance, showing once more why she is such a great actress. She fits this role. I find myself really enjoying her portrayal of this character, and also caring more and more about the character itself.
So to you naysayers out there who say Tru Calling is not good, that Eliza should have went with the Faith spinoff instead of this show, I simply say : Patience, my dear friends, good things come to those who wait. And this show truly has the potential to be great. Let the story unfold, give it a chance, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was a great series. This show has serious potential. Just wait, u too, will see.
